Christmas lunch

It's time for round two! In an attempt to simplify things a little, we ended up not going to Travis' aunt and uncle's house for the usual Christmas lunch. We were just so strapped for time, but this was also the first Christmas not spent in my grandma's home because of the fire and we wanted to have them over to our house for lunch. It certainly wasn't the same, but we were together and that's all that matters. And having my family over allowed us to spend more time together instead of making the drive back and forth to Bastrop. Of course, they had to make the trip, but it was so much easier on us this year. Anyway, we had fun cooking at the house (even if I do freak out a little over a messy and cluttered kitchen, haha) and we had way too much food and lots of left overs... I guess some things don't change. ;-) The kids were spoiled with gifts... can we say, 'Hello, Wii' (among other things!), but also got things they needed like pj's and clothes, thanks to my practical grandma. ;-) Again, it was a nice celebration and I'm really glad everyone came over.

Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas! Our morning started out early with Tyler coming down the stairs and finding the one thing he really, REALLY wanted under the Christmas tree... a red Angry Bird. I was in my bathroom when Tyler came downstairs and I was bummed to not have my video recorder in hand to catch his excitement of seeing that Santa actually came and getting his Angry Bird, but he was spilling with excitement over his bird (now named "Feathers") all day. :-) There wasn't much to Kinley's wish list, but I think her favorite thing was her new pink and purple sippy cups. She has pitched some pretty good fits over wanting Tyler's (blue) sippy cups and now she has her own! She didn't know what was going on with the rest of Christmas and presents and wanted to eat the wrapping paper one minute and then seemed scared at the sound of the wrapping paper ripping the next. She got some fun things that I know she'll grow into loving. Of course, Tyler was all about ALL of his new things. He's at that age where it's extra fun right now and Santa may have gone a little over board, if that's even possible. He was happy that Santa left him a little note and not only did Santa bring the two things that he wanted (Angry bird and stuffed kitty), Santa brought Daddy what Tyler asked for him as well (a remote controlled helicopter) and as a bonus, Tyler got one too! It's nice having the house filled with new toys and fun activities to do. I'm excited for them and just loved seeing their sweet smiles on this special morning! :-)

Christmas Eve at our house

After a nice day in Waco, we came home and put on our Christmas pjs and got ready for Santa to make his stop at our house. Finally! We had been talking about Christmas and Santa for forever and Tyler was really excited that it was finally here. Unfortunately for me, the evening didn't go exactly as I had planned. I had another gallbladder attack while we were trying to put the kids to bed and ended up making a quick trip to the ER. Not exactly how I wanted to spend my Christmas Eve or early Christmas morning, but I started feeling better after the pain meds kicked in. And Santa came regardless! :-)

Thumbs up because Christmas is finally here!

Reindeer antlers~

Tyler thought that Santa might enjoy chocolate milk this year. :-)

Santa came!
