15 months old

Another month has passed and Tyler is 15 months old! If I only had a dime for every time I say, "Time is going by so fast" or something to that effect.......

We've had another fun month (as I always say as well). It's true though- with each day, we have so much more fun! He is more interactive, makes up his own silly games to play, is able to let us know what he wants, does things that we ask, and is able to assist us in doing little things that make a big difference (blowing his nose, brushing his teeth, throwing his diaper or trash away, putting his dirty clothes in the hamper, getting his shoes, etc). He is such a comedian and thrives on attention. If he sees that he is able to make you laugh, he acts even more silly to get you to continue laughing at him.

He has added 'up' to his vocabulary and still has a long list of things that he is trying to say. I'm waiting for him to just mutter out a complete sentence to me any day! He can point to his: ears, eyes, nose, tongue, belly and toes and he will point to those features on Travis or myself as well. He holds up one finger when I ask to see 'one.' He is using a fork with meals now and knows the difference between dinner and dessert (he'll gladly take that "one last bite and then we can have dessert.") He's been teething this entire month. He cut a top and bottom molar on the same side and it seems like they are taking forever to fully come in. His gums have been very inflamed and swollen for weeks and only a small portion of the tooth has broken the surface. He's not nearly as bothered by it now as when they first started coming in though.

His new obsessions are watering the plants (well, watering anything as long as HE gets the water hose) and pretending to drive my car or Travis' truck. He loves sitting on our lap and pushing every button or pulling every lever there is. And you guessed it, these are what we see the big tantrums over now (when it's time to end either activity).

We finally added more cabinet locks in the kitchen and bathroom and even got a gate for the top of the staircase. We're slow at this baby proofing, but it is happening. Of course, Tyler is already trying to figure out how he can open the cabinets and I have a feeling that it won't be long before he does.

I'm sure I'm leaving out a million things, but this pretty much sums up our munchkin for the past month.

Fireants!

You would never know that we DO use a pest service. Tyler had his first run in with the dreaded fireants while playing by some rocks in our backyard. Travis and I were right there with him and when Travis looked over, they were swarming the rocks and unfortunately, Tyler's feet! It was so sad, but he was such a trooper. Not a single tear shed. I counted approximately 40 bites on his little feet, along with a few on his leg and hand. Thank goodness he wasn't allergic! And speaking of our worthless pest service, Tyler usually finds some little bug in the house daily and is very quick to point this out. Whenever he spots a bug, he will come running up to me and he starts pointing where the bug is while saying "Ehhh, Ehhhh, Ehhh." Of course, he's overly dramatic about it, but it's fun because I get to play the role of 'Super Mom' and get rid of the bug. Although, the other day, he had a wooden spoon that he was banging on the kitchen floor as hard as he could. I finally took it away from him and he then alerted me of the bug situation. When I went to look, he had smashed the bug into a hundred different pieces with that wooden spoon. I couldn't help but laugh!

He did enjoy his first soothing bubble bath as a result. (Which he loved!) The warm water helped with the irritation and to break open the ant bites.

Playdate with Trace

We somehow managed to have a playdate with our neighborhood friends, Kristi and Trace during our busy week with friends in town. They have a membership to the YMCA and invited us to play at their awesome pool. The boys had a blast and were so cute together!

Visits, visits and more visits!

Two of my best friends from high school were both in town visiting this past week. Shannon and baby Emma came from California and Kelli came from Florida with her two little ones, Levi and Lilli. We had a great time catching up and as you can imagine, Tyler enjoyed having kids around!

(Tyler with Kelli's kiddos, Levi and Lilli)

goofy kids

This is the first time all three kids took a picture together. Tyler was only three months old here. Geesh, time flies.

Emma, Lilli, Levi & Tyler

Shannon & Emma stayed with us for a few nights. It was a lot of fun having Emma around! Tyler seemed to really like her. He must have kissed her a dozen times and he wanted to be where she was at all times.

Kelli & I were able to sneak away from the kiddos to enjoy some girl time and a nice dinner with Shannon and Ashley. It's hard to believe that we were all inseperable in high school and this is the first time since the summer after graduating that we were all together again. I miss these girls so much and all the fun times we used to have.

A couple more pictures at Amy's Ice Cream

Danika (another best friend from high school) just had her second baby, Quinn. Shannon and I stopped by to visit and meet the precious little guy. I swear, I can't remember Tyler ever being that small, but he was. He was even smaller! Did I mention how fast time flies already???

Tyler and Emma were both zonked out by the time we got home.
