Most of these pictures were taken during Kinley's dress rehearsal (2 days prior to recital), so you would never know that she woke up recital morning with a high fever, throwing up and tummy pains that kept her curled up in bed. Like, real deal sick. Aside from it being recital day, it was also Sunday, so it's not like I could just schedule a quick doctor visit. I gave her some Tylenol and she rotated between sleeping and sitting in a warm bathtub all day. We went back and forth about missing the recital and it broke my heart to think of her not going. This was her 5th dance recital, where she would be acknowledged on stage and receive an achievement trophy and she has talked about it since she was four. Kinley proved to us *again* just how tough she really is! She pulled herself together and decided to go, even though she felt horrible and weak! The dance company's recitals are pretty legit and she sat through lots of hair and make-up, three costume changes, three dances, pictures and all for three hours. I was worried about being shamed for bringing her while she was sick, but all of her sweet dance friends and the moms understood how important this recital was. We are lucky to have such a supportive community of friends! I sat in the dressing room with Kinley, while she was wrapped up in a blanket and rubbed her little back as she threw up in a trashcan and then she put on a smile and walked out on stage. She is a total ROCKSTAR and I couldn't be more proud!! Happy 5th dance recital!
