Halloween Flood

Weather is SO unpredictable and we sure did experience the unexpected! 18 inches of rain in our small town causing the Halloween Flood of 2015. It was the most bizarre thing considering we don't live near water or in a low water area. I was glued to the TV watching for tornado warnings and checking in with Tyler's school (now THAT's a scary feeling... your child not being with you during crazy weather!) and just walked past my backdoor to see the backyard flooding! As quick as it came down, the water started to recede just as quickly and we were actually able to go pick up Tyler from school that afternoon. So bizarre! I doubt that we'll ever see this again!

These are pictures I took off and on while it was raining. You'll see the water all the way up to the bottom of the swing!

And that playhouse was on the opposite end of our yard and on a big pallet of wood. The water swept it across the yard.

I'm not good with measurements, but that's approximately 2-3 feet of retaining wall at the end that's covered in water~

Kinley went to check it out after the rain let up~

It was like we were on our own little island after the rain stopped.

Kinley wandered a little into the back yard and in different areas, but didn't go as deep as it was because she started to get a little worried.

Looking back, letting the girls play in the water probably wasn't the smartest idea. Who knows what was floating around in that! It was short-lived since it was pretty chilly! And you can see that the water started to recede pretty quick.
