14 mos old

I'm really losing track of time these days. Mr. Tyler is already 14 months old and what a character he is becoming! He keeps us on our toes and laughing all day! I've decided that there is no amount of baby-proofing that could actually give me a little relief aside from locking everything down and moving all of the furniture out of the house. (sigh..) He now knows how to climb up on the dining room chairs and if you look away for a second, he's trying to climb on top of the dining room table! He climbs up on all the living room furniture and tries to jump down from the sides of the couch! (Can we say heart attack for Mommy??) This child knows no fear! Fearless and funny definitely sum up Tyler these days. In addition to the dare devil acts, he does the silliest things. For example: he thinks every food we put in front of him is hot and he repeatedly tells us, 'hot!' while blowing on it to cool it off (it could be ice cream and he still thinks it's hot- haha); he sticks his finger IN his nose instead of on his lips when saying "shhhhhh;" he tries to assist us in blowing our nose like we do with him; he pretends most objects are a telephone and blabs away with it stuck to his ear. Oh this list can go on and on....

He has the 'h' syllable down. He's been saying 'hi' and 'hot' for a while. Now he has added 'cat' and 'light' to his vocabulary, but he says 'hat' and 'height.' Something else to add to the list of silly things that he does. :-)

He's very generous with his hugs and kisses for Mommy and Daddy and blows kisses and says "hi" to complete strangers. As you can imagine, he gets a lot of attention when we're out and about and he loves every single second of it!

And for those interested in our sleep situation- He has dropped to one good nap during the day and is sleeping for much longer stretches at night. He still wakes up once or twice a night, but he's come so far that I can't complain about this. We still haven't moved him to his crib and I continue to find some reason not to. I'm beginning to wonder if we'll ever get any use out of that crib!

Enjoy our 14 month pics~

Lunch rinse

Explanation: quick/easy clean-up after the messiest lunch consisting of pasta with tomato sauce and fresh, sticky pineapples for dessert. I'm actually surprised that this is the first time we've ever rinsed him off in the kitchen sink! haha!

Tired Baby

Given our sleep "issues," I have always said that Tyler would NEVER be that kid that falls asleep in the high chair at dinner and here he is proving me wrong. He was zonked out! I still can't believe it! Not an unusual day, he was just a very tired baby!

Dress-up

I got this adorable Father's Day gift idea from a baby website I visit and thought about taking Tyler to get his pictures taken in Travis' shirt and tie, but after our clumsy dress rehearsal at the house, I think we'll wait until next year for professional pictures. However, these are way too precious not to share now!

Happy Birthday, Travis!

We celebrated Travis' birthday today with his family at Texas Land and Cattle for dinner. :-)

Baby ducks!

This has to be the most random thing. Tyler and I were hanging out in his playroom yesterday afternoon when I noticed this commotion of birds going on outside the window. We went to check it out and there were two abandoned baby Mallard Ducks just wondering around. Their mom never came back for them. I still have a hard time picturing a mom duck and her ducklings walking through our neighborhood or my yard, but I guess it happened! I get very googlie-eyed over any baby animal and we actually had discussions about keeping them. It was too late at this point to take them anywhere anyway, so we fed them, placed them on a heating blanket and they seemed to be doing well. Sadly, today, the smaller duck started on a downhill path and I have no idea what happened. It died this evening and we buried it outside the window where Tyler and I found it. I just feel so bad about this! Despite the other duck doing great, we decided it would be best for Travis to take it to the Wildlife Rescue. The little duck did grow quite attached to Travis during this short time. He even slept nestled in Travis' hands for a couple of hours. He'll do much better being around other ducks and with someone who has experience taking care of them. This definitely brought some excitement to our home for a couple of days.

13 months already

Wow, this past month really flew by and Tyler turned 13 months old this past Saturday. He cut his 6th tooth (a top one) on Saturday, which didn't make for an incredibly fun day. Otherwise, I don't think there's a lot of new things going on. He's just getting bigger, more aware, and improving on the things that he already knows. :-)

*How much do you love mommy?*

Fun day at the new Jumpy Place close by. Tyler has the best time playing with kitchens and in play houses, so I really wanted to get him one or the other for his birthday, but Travis nixed it by saying that those aren't boy toys. I had to take a few pics to show Travis that he really does enjoy playing with them and I think Santa is going to over rule Travis' decision. :-)

(Tyler's neighborhood bud, Trace, came along).

Summer fun!

Summer toys are SO MUCH FUN!! I'm loving it- I mean, Tyler's loving it!

(Look at how talented he is! Possibly a hint that he's ready for fishing?)
