I am one proud mom right now. I encouraged Tyler and Kinley to take on a service project this summer after they were moved by us paying for a sweet older lady's breakfast at the donut shop. We went through a list of things they could do to help and with the loss of Cooper still so new for them, they quickly chose to help out animals and the PAWS Shelter in Kyle. We put a flyer together and they did the hard work of going through our neighborhood to see if they could get any donations. We organized a lemonade sale in front of Pet Smart and with the help of a few friends (Jacob, Levi, Lucas & Belen), they sat outside in the crazy summer heat and worked for a couple of hours (and had some fun, too!). It was such a treat to be able to drop off $271.00 cash and a ton of supplies to PAWS. They gave Tyler & Kinley a tour of the shelter and let them love on some cats and dogs. I'm not sure how we made it out of there without bringing one home, but we did! The kids are trying to talk Travis into fostering animals now. Ha! I hope that they will always have a giving heart and that we can find something else to support soon!
We took our first fishing trip on the new boat to Port Aransas. It's been a hot minute since we've been out fishing. I think the last time I went was when Tyler was just a couple of years old. Bill sold his boat after that and life sure got busier for us. Travis' heart was happy to have everyone out on the water with a fishing pole in hand. :-) And can I just say how cute my little fishing girls are?! It was their first experience and Kinley's competitive nature came right on out. She bragged about catching the first Sheepshead and she wasn't afraid to hold the fish at all. Brooklyn wasn't quite as sure about touching any fish and was happy to just sit and play with her Barbies. We didn't have any luck with catching keeper fish, but it was still a pretty neat experience.... we were feeding a pelican and dolphin from the side of the boat. The dolphin was huge and it just hung out with us like we were at Sea World or something. And check out that sunset! Port Aransas- we'll be back!
